With Second Grade having the bye, we had 7 teams take on the competition over the weekend. In addition, we had 7 future Ex Servos representatives participate in the first Blast session for the season to develop their skills.

Juniors

Stage 1 – Our young Stage 1 team (pictured centre) had a glimpse of their first victory, however, fell just short after posting 105 in reply to Berry-Shoalhaven Heads’ 119. With the ball, Malachi Nicolls stood out, taking 3-11, while Jash Talatiya and Angad Rana each took 2-13. Batting second, youngsters Henry Bowden and Max Russell (pictured right) were thrilled to open the batting while Ben Newing top scored with 9, followed by Jash Talatiya’s 8.

Stage 2 – Exservos Win! Led by Pratham Luthra (3-6) and Bayin Wills (2-11), a solid bowling effort saw Berry-Shoalhaven Heads White dismissed for 114. Our Stage 2 team chased down the runs in 19 overs losing only 3 wickets, thanks to Lennox Wills (43 retired) and solid support from all others that batted. A big first win for a lot of players who have made the jump from Stage 1.

Stage 3 – Batting first, our Stage 3 team managed 5-105 from 30 overs, highlighted by Shaia Wagner-Smith’s 35 and Jude McPhail’s 20 not out. Unfortunately, Ulladulla United proved too strong, chasing down the total in 17.3 overs, despite the strong economical effort of Jude McPhail who produced 1-6 from his 3.3 overs.

Seniors

Womens – On Friday night, our women took on Kookas in a match that was abandoned due to poor light. Batting first, Kookas managed 5-174 from their 20 overs, with Emily Goldfinch taking 2-22. Facing 15.3 overs before play was abandoned, our women were well placed to go all the way at 3-118. Anne Boatswain’s knock of 31 displayed good intent, followed by captain Anthea Godwin’s innings of 48 not out from 26 balls – great effort.

First Grade – Winning the toss and batting first, we simply lost too many early wickets and managed a subpar 107. Mick Perry (32) and Kuldeep Singh Rana (20) both got off to starts and displayed positive signs moving forward. Despite a first over wicket from Bradd Cuddy (1-20), Berry-Shoalhaven Heads chased down the total without further loss.

Third Grade – Batting first, our thirds set a modest total of 77, being bowled out after 19 overs. Shaia Wagner-Smith (17) and Shinto Kilaparambil Shaji (15*) managed to start their innings and will look to push on next week. Sussex Inlet chased down the total in 10 overs, with Don Tharaka and Myles Condon each taking a wicket.

Fourth Grade – In an absolute nail biter, captain Nathan Darvill led fourth grade (picture left) to a 1 wicket win. Bowling first, Paul McPhail took 2-9 as Berry-Shoalhaven Heads navigated their way to 6-168 from 40 overs. In reply, captain Nathan Darvill led the chase with a 59 ball century, including 7 fours and 8 sixes as we got the win with just over 2 overs remaining.
