Weekly Wrap 7/12/24

exservoscc

Our Women’s team headlined this weekend with a momentous occasion, the first women’s club game at Hayden Drexel Oval. It was well supported by an amazing crowd. Our Junior teams put together some great wins as we approach the last round prior to Christmas.

Juniors

Stage 1 – We travelled down the coast to take on Bay and Basin and our stage 1 team put in a great effort to secure another win. Batting first, we totalled 88 from our 20 overs, which was elevated to 124 following wickets taken. Jash Talatiya (17) top scored once again, while Henry Bowden (13) and Shaunak Kankotiya (11) also made double figures. Defending our total, Jash Talatiya took 3-7 from his 3 overs, while Shaunak Kankotiya, Henry Bowden, Nyx Wilson and Max Russell each took a wicket.

Stage 2 – Another win for Exservos, as our Stage 2 team chased down the total set by Bay and Basin. A great bowling effort saw Bay and Basin restricted to 5-92 from 28 overs, highlighted by Charles Meagher’s 3-15. Lennox Wills (25*) led the way in the run chase and was well supported by Cooper Pitts (14*) to win in the 20th over, losing only 2 wickets.

Stage 3 – Stage 3 hosted Batemans Bay at Hayden Drexel Oval in a highly competitive game. Batting first, we were dismissed for 144, as Kent Ellery and Xavier Smith each made 48. Unfortunately, Batemans Bay managed to get the runs despite a great bowling effort from Kent Ellery (1-18) and Noah Dyball (1-12).

Seniors

Womens – Our women rose to the occasion of hosting a game at Hayden Drexel Oval and performing for those viewing the livestream. Batting First, we made 2-204 from our 20 overs. On display was some power hitting from in-form pair Anne Boatswain (74*) and Anthea Godwin (82). Kiama never challenged our massive total, making 8-69 from their 20 overs thanks to some tight bowling across the board.

First Grade – On Friday night, our T20 matchup was abandoned after 17 overs due to inclement weather. Travelling to Kiama on saturday, our firsts had a weekend to forget, being bowled out for 114 despite a big effort from Matt Higham (42). Kiama chased down our total in the 24th over having lost 4 wickets, however, dropped catches cost us a chance to defend this small total.

Second Grade – Unfortunately, the grounds were deemed unsafe due to the impacts of weather and second grade’s match was abandoned.

Third Grade – Completing their first double-header of T20’s, our third grade struggled to adjust to this format. Taking on Batemans Bay first, Shaia Wagner-Smith (50*) starred to set a total of 3-122. However, Batemans Bay displayed some great batting to chase down the total. In the second game, Ulladulla batted first and made 7-167, with some late heroics displayed by Amila Wanigasekara picking up his first 5fa (5-21). We were unable to compete with this total, managing 6-80 from our 20 overs.

Fourth Grade – Similarly our fourth grade faced a double-header of t20s without success. In our first match-up, Sussex Inlet made 8-116 as Jake Mussig, Darien Moore and debutant Tim Olney each took 2 wickets. Alas, we only made 5-46 in reply. As Ashley Marshall (15) also made his club debut. Our second game also resulted in a loss, however, the stats for this game have not been uploaded.
